Display notes

Resolution and aspect ratio are related, but not the same.

What is aspect ratio?

Aspect ratio describes the proportional relationship between image width and height, such as 16:9. Resolution describes the actual number of pixels.

Why can two resolutions have the same aspect ratio?

1920×1080 and 3840×2160 are both 16:9. They have the same shape but different pixel densities and total pixel counts.

Why does the calculator show a nearest common format?

Some custom LED canvases and content resolutions do not reduce exactly to a common broadcast/display ratio. The nearest standard format is only a comparison reference.
